Encl.No.1
Sir,
With reference to your despatch No.87 of
the 22nd February, 1934, I have the honour to submit for
the signification of His Majesty's pleasure the follow-
ing Ordinance intituled:-
2.
Encl.No.2
Encl.No.3 Encl.No.4
"An Ordinance to amend further the
"Supreme Court Ordinance, 1873."
The enclosed report by the Attorney General
explains the objects and reasons of the Ordinance.
3.
The words "without the consent of the
Governor" have been omitted from the amended section 11
for the reasons given in this report. The omission of
these words was very strongly urged by the Unofficial
Members of the Executive Council and in view of their
representations I thought it proper to seek the views of
the new Chief Justice on this matter. I enclose for
your information copies of the letter addressed by me to
the Chief Justice together with his reply.
In the circumstances I trust that this
deviation from the strict letter of your instructions will
receive your approval.
By
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
Your most obedient humble servant,
ん
the
Governor, &c.
SIR P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER, G.B.E., M.C., M.P.,
